The Robert Rock story
A Tour winner from the Staffordshire heath.
Robert Rock learned the game at Whittington Heath. He came through the junior section, turned professional in 1999, and built a steady tour career through the 2000s on the Challenge Tour and European Tour.
Two wins on the European Tour stand out. The 2011 Italian Open at Royal Park I Roveri. And, more famously, the 2012 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth — the European Tour's flagship event — beating Tiger Woods to do it. The win lifted him to a career-high world ranking of 39.
The Rock connection runs through the modern Whittington Heath story. He returns regularly between Tour commitments. He coaches when invited. He gives swing analysis pieces with Golf Monthly and the DP World Tour. The textbook swing on the right is his — one of the cleanest tempo profiles on the European tour.
